Google is ushering in its biggest algorithm change ever, and for Internet Marketers, this Google update will change everything. The update is being called the most radical change in Google history. Google recently announced that its new revision, called “Search, plus Your World,” will change the way users see the results of what they type into the search bar. Google robots will begin incorporating information from its own social network into the regular results from public Internet websites.
What is Behind This Recent Google Update?
Google has been having problems with the popularly of Google+, the mega-company’s new social networking platform. Google Plus, known as G+ for short, lets you share different sets of things with different sets of people that you select. You can arrange your sets into “circles” to make sure you’re sharing your content with the right group of users at the right time. Social networking giants like Facebook and Twitter have a monopoly on the social scene, however, and G+ has remained in the shadows for many Internet users as a result.
Google is attempting to correct this issue by incorporating information from Google+ users into its regular search results. So, if you are searching for dog training information, and you have a G+ friend who shared a great article on the subject recently, that article would appear in your search results along with the results that would normally display. Google is attempting to measure authority and trust for many users across the great expanse of fragmented networks throughout the web.
The company can then use the “high confidence” information they collect to determine what the most relevant content is, and in what order they should present it in their SERPs. This means that if an authoritative G+ member awards a “+1” to an article connected to a profile on Google, the profile of the article’s writer would raise in trust and authority as well, so the content would, in theory, perform in the SERPs more effectively.
What the Google Update Means for You
This Google update will be devastating for Internet Marketers who are set in their ways. You must be adaptable as you update your SEO training to include learning why social media marketing is so important. This is simply another hurdle you must overcome to keep your pages ranking well. There is a simple solution for the problem of falling in the SERPs in light of this new change.
Join G+.
If you do, and you master the platform, you could actually stand to do better in the SERPs than you have done prior to the change. G+ is still in beta, so the time to act is now. If you dominate this platform before other Internet Marketers get hip to the new way of doing things, you may stand to profit big-time simply from having your finger on the pulse. Keep doing what you’re doing, but arrange your lists into circles and share the content you post on your site with your circle in G+ every time you publish new material. If you practice this method religiously, and you network like crazy on G+, your site may have a better chance of ending up on page one even after this major Google update.
